RFK Jr. has no chance.

You know it.

I know it.

America knows it.

It’s a waste of time and effort to pretend otherwise.

I’m trying to stop a nuclear war.

Not promote a fantasy.

It is no more a waste of time and effort to believe in and support a candidate whose policies I agree with than it is to believe that we can somehow convince two warmongers like Trump and Biden that peaceful coexistence with the world is the way to go. In an honest vote count, the candidate with the most votes wins and we are limited to D or R only because we’ve allowed it to be that way. Personally, I’m done with that. Look at Mexico - Years of the PRI and PAN then came the Moreno party and Amlo. No one person will fix everything. There are no saviors but it’s a first step - kind of like putting on the brakes and telling the world we’re still here and ready to reach out.

Never let yourself be persuaded that any one Great Man, any one leader, is necessary to the salvation of America. When America consists of one leader and 158 million followers, it will no longer be America.

Sadly, I'm afraid that ship has sailed. 2020 was a Color Revolution. Orwell best describes our situation: One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes a revolution in order to establish a dictatorship.

With all due respect and not wishing to be negative, at what point do we consider that electoralism is no longer a viable strategy to effect change?

Just to confine the argument to very recent history: There has been a palace coup in the United States, knowingly enabled by the government, military, media, and oligarchs ("the donor class"). There is no President. There have been no full Cabinet meetings since 3 Oct. 2023. Decisions such as deploying long-range missiles to Germany have been made with no discussion, explanation, or accountability. Things just HAPPEN, seemingly by themselves, and nobody really seems to care all that much.

Why, exactly, do you believe we can simply vote our way out of this morass, and replace our rotting institutions and ruling classes with something that works for peace and the prosperity of the American people? (When, arguably, peace and prosperity haven't been the goal for a very long time, if ever.)

I am all for not blowing up the world, but at the same time the realist position would seem to indicate a deep and irreversible rot in the American experiment that cannot simply be voted away.

Missiles to Germany is not the worst of it. The US is putting 15 Military Bases in Finland with its 1,340km border with Russia and missiles in Poland, which has a 400km border with Belarus, Russias ally. I'm a Brit (English) so don't have any right to comment, and I'm okay with the notion - and quite expect that - you'll ignore me. I imagine you're right about RFK Jr. - although he seems one of the most desirable to me - the others being Jill Stein (have I got that right?) and the black religious dude with the big hair whose name I've forgotten for the moment (with apologies to him) who all seem like much better choices than the present two. But I noticed Clayton Morris doing a piece whilst driving, and saying that a donor - or more than one donor has threatened to withdraw their donations unless JB steps down within 48 hours. I would guess that Kamala Harris would be better than him at the very least? Given that doesn't happen, then I guess the narcissistic DT is slightly less suicidal (on the world's behalf) than JB - though his support for Israel is disturbing and dangerous enough to have me worried about the planet's future.

One other (possibly rather dippy) thought that I have is to wonder whether it would be possible to promote a nationwide US petition or campaign to replace both of the presidential candidates - and not by anyone who has either been president or a presidential candidate previously. I imagine the oligarchy wouldn't wear that, but I imagine that there might be some attraction to most (? or at least many) of the electorate not to have the oldest, richest, arguably the most corrupt candidates (and some of their advisers - certainly the present ones) competing to control the fire button which might end life on the planet. Doubtless impractical, but out of the box thinking at least.

Btw I'm afraid my country is no example; I fully expect our current Prime Minister to be quite as bloody useless as the last half dozen or more have been ....... If we don't speak again, it was nice sharing a planet whilst it lasted gringo!

Thanks for your reminder, but, please, don't imagine yours is the only country where that happens. In case it's news to you, our Prime Minister is a fully paid up member of Labour friends of Israel and it has been "rumoured" that his campaign to become leader of the party 5 years ago was funded via that group. Lobbies and donors exist all over the place, and we have our fair share - we've got more than enough behind the scenes advisers as well, my friend. The thing about democracies is that they are gamed all the time - but that doesn't necessarily always mean that the electorate can't make its voice heard if it shouts loud enough. - We do have history here too, old bean. Where do you think your lot learnt some of their bad habits?

Expand full comment

There is a "Friends of Israel" group here in Norway too. Most members of the parliament are members of it too. Every NATO country has their own version of "Friends of Israel".

Expand full comment

I imagine that's true; I find no difficulty in believing that they do. There is a Conservative Party friends of Israel as well in this country, and other parties too also support them and /or Palestine. Sir Keir Starmer (our PM) used to also be a friend of Palestine as well - as were and are some mps (though some are only friends of one or other) - but his dual membership ended in 2019 - the same year he became PM - and his support for Israel's response to 7/10 was unbridled for far longer than just about any other political leader in the country, to the extent that he has come under criticism for the extent of his support, and his sidestepping of direct questions about how much illegal warring he might appear willing to condone. This is rather in line with his predecessor - and, it is alleged, current mentor, Tony Blair's willingness to support dodgy wars on what might be not the safest of pretexts.

Anyway, I'd be interested to know what your country's politics are like nowadays, and which party is in power etc.; I have an impression that some scandanavian countries have experienced a growth in right-wing politics; maybe even some extremism in recent years. I think Col. D. McGregor amongst others (perhaps including J Sachs etc.) has commented on the sagacity of the Nordic countries who have joined Nato, and whether they might have been better off staying out, in various ways. I wouldn't know myself - I merely watch, listen and try to learn what I can.

But, to return to the subject, the point of what I was saying isn't what foreign countries Politicians have ties of friendship with, it's the issue of money changing hands electorally that is now a world-wide issue.

Expand full comment

At this time we have a Labour Party government consisting of a PM who started his carreer in the conservative party. Then he changed to Labour because this party won more elections. I.e. a smoother and shorter way to the top.

Our foreign minister got his carreer kicked off in the Rockefeller funded think tank Norwegian Foreign Policy institute (NUPI). Of course, by now everybody on the planet knows the former PM of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg. His mentor, Gro Harlem Bruntland (WHO) is also well known.

Thanks to J.S. (former Labour PM) Norway is all gung ho about Ukraine. Nobody here realizes that NATO is beating a dead horse. It's utterly pathetic. The ever present blue and yellow flags of 2022 have been quietly removed, which is in and of itself an admission that this is a lost cause.

Who will be flying the F-16s they're shipping to Ukraine I don't know. Learning how to use them in combat takes years. Learning how to maintain them ditto.

Norway was a founding member of NATO. Sweden and Finland joining NATO now after Russias not-war in Ukraine is absolute insanity. This means that Russia is literally surrounded in the west, the north and the south. What could possibly go wrong with that?

Expand full comment

Thanks for your interesting reply. I'm saddened to hear that political homogenization is going on in your country too - albeit from supposedly right to left, rather than the other way, as in my country; the problem is that we're left (as I imagine your country might be too - though please correct me if I'm wrong) with a Uniparty, which rather undermines democracy, as the " Centrists" then call many of the others "extremists".

It sounds to me like you and I may have been watching many of the same Yt posts, given your points re ukraine and armaments.

Am I right in thinking that, unlike our PM, who is fairly fully supportive of Israel,

although pressure has forced him to back-track a little (though many of us don't much believe that) that your country has not joined in with supporting geoncidal wars?

I'd also be interested to know if you have noticed much growth in genuinely far right movements in your country - or whether that stays pretty much the same?We have Nigel Farage here, who has been elected an mp along with 4 or 5 others of the Reform party and who considers ex - Pres. Trump his friend; of whom, commentators are saying, the attempted assassination will prove more of a shot in the arm to his re-election chances than a shot in the head ( with apologies for the tasteless joke, in case you might think it so).

I am a Marxist and supporter of the Socialist Equality Party and they are the ONLY party I have voted for since the last time I voted for a Democrat, which was 1992. Guess who. The only change is going to be revolutionary change and we are on the brink of it right now. As Rosa Luxemburg told us, the choice is between socialism and barbarism. We already have barbarism. I've voting for socialism.
