These people never had their wealth plundered by Putin. They put it all in western banks and other western assets and then watched helplessly as it got surreptitiously taken from them - by those “law abiding western governments” - without any recourse whatsoever. The obvious irony is they kept their assets in the west so Putin could not touch them.
It was an inconceivable nightmare come true. Then Putin welcomed them all back home and never touched their assets in Russia.

Sylvia, Most Petroleum of what is left in Venezuela, Canada, USA, Russia, Saudi-Arabia, Qatar, Britain, Norway etc is TAR. While tar can be used for physical Roofing, Roads, Graphene, Graphite & other tarred physical goods, there is no economically viable way of extracting combustable liquid oil or gas. Even asphalt & other ubiquitous tar materials are recognized as potent carcinogen, mutagen & teratogens. While Venezuela has been blockaded, there has also been recognition by the Maduro government that there is literally no way to cleanly extract & refine the tar deposits, without exposing populations to massive petro-chemical exposure caused illness & death. Venezuela has been careful to prioritize its renewable Biosphere-based 'economies'. No viable clean-technologies exist to transform Tar into combustibles.

which because of: a) Polyculture's 92-98% Photosynthesis compared with 2-D 'agriculture' 2-8% photosynthesis. M of Wheat, Barley, Oats or Rye will produce only 3 kgs of grains requiring intensive mechanical ploughing, seeding, weeding, fertilizing, fencing & irrigation or drainage preparation. c) Polyculture's nearly complete ~95% photosynthesis of solar energy into food, materials, energy & water-cycle, creates an energy vacuum which drives warm moist ocean winds inland. 60% of Moisture transfer from ocean to continent is through condensation of these winds upon quadrillions of square kilometres of fractal leaf & bark surface. I am aware of the damage from mining the tar sands in Canada and to the water tables and population from fracking. Venezuela used to produce 2-3 million barrels a day—now around 900,000. Is this due to-depletion? There are other resources. Are those also problematic to produce? I have some knowledge of polyculture but not much. Are you involved in polyculture?
Sylvia, Thank you for your comment. Yes there are other 'indigenous' (Latin 'self-generating') energy resources, right at our fingertips, which most will be surprised at. Humanity can not understand the 'control' situation which hidden Oligarchy has on us, until we can restore some of our 'indigenous' memory.

Sylvia, I've followed Chief Phil Lane & Four World's inspirational statements over the past 25 years. In 1968, I joined the United Farm-Workers Montreal Grape Boycott committee, then in 1971-4, bicycled through many of California's Central Valley & Coastal, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana & British Columbia farming areas to meet many Chicano (Mestizos & 1st Nation) Farm Workers as well as working on research in Idaho & picking, pruning, planting at Orchards in BC. My focus, directed by many elders, is that all humanity are originally indigenous, so each of us have these inherent roots in our psyches. '$50 per barrel' ? What would happen to all those oil and gas rich countries living in sandy deserts and having NOTHING else ?
Deripaska has been openly against the war from the beginning and has publicly demanded that it stops immediately, regardless of the results, many times. Such comments are nothing new.
Naturally this brings up three questions:
1) Why is Deripaska still in the position that he is? Imagine someone in 1943 calling for the war to stop immediately with the Nazis still in possession of Kharkov, Kiev, Odessa and the Baltics? What would have happened to that person?
2) Why is the war still ongoing when Putin can end it within a few months of deciding to do so and unshackling the military to take the necessary measures? And note that it used to be that the war could have ended on a time scale of weeks and days, but it has been becoming only harder and harder the more NATO became involved and the more Ukraine was militarized, which is a direct consequence of not finishing it quickly.
3) Given that none of the above has happened, who is actually calling the shots inside Russia, and whose side is the administration on?
It’s a conundrum. Is it a war of attrition designed to exhaust and divide NATO and the US? There is zero doubt that Russia and her assets have been a target. It’s also clear that both Russia and China want to avoid direct confrontation that could lead to a nuclear war. But at this point—how can Russia win the peace given all these terror attacks?
Isn't the problem that sanctions lifted today can be back tommrow particularly with Trump or any US leader?
