No, Russia has not been desperate for the Minsk 3 that the west has been offering them. It won’t be hoodwinked again with a false peace, whilst Ukraine and their western backers, rearm and regroup, ready to attack them against. Russia will only accept a true peace which satisfies all their SMO objectives and recognises their legitimate security interests, which in turn will finally bring peace to the whole Europe after the Second World War. Ultimately this means the dissolution of both NATO and the EU for the good of all.
Russia was happy to sign a Minsk-3 before Boris Johnson denied them even that.

I think you're ignoring the UK/EU's intransigence. Trump can't stop UK/EU from fighting Russia if that's what they want to do. They rejected Trump's efforts at compromise. So he's walking away from them, but disguising that with anti-Russia rhetoric. (He already slammed the EU's perfidy at the UN today. Some anti-Russia rhetoric makes it even for the day.)
As long as Russia knows that's what Trump is doing, then there is hope. If for a second they believe Trump is full of it, then the only hope is for Russia to succeed in its objectives, and now, they will have to take the entirety of Ukraine as they cannot afford to have this keep sniping away at them ad nauseam, giving the West opportunity after opportunity to keep on trying to dismantle Russia. If Trump is pulling a double-agent like stunt, it is also important to take on board that a double-agent can also be a triple-agent, and more.
