Step back and give him credit for trying to limit the damage. If this is theater, he playing Netanyahu because he's declaring victory and preparing to go home while abandoning Netanyahu's (and the neocon's) real goal of regime change and destruction of Iran. (Watch Netanyahu's unconditional congratulatory statement. It could have been dictated by Trump.) As long as Trump can shut down Israel's war, avoid Iranian attacks on American bases, he can convince most of his base that it was the victory he promised and was accomplished without a long and costly war, he will have neutralized both the anti-war part of his coalition and the Israel Lobby, while giving the Military Industrial Complex some free advertising.

Here’s my take on Netanyahu’s attack on Iran:

Netanyahu's attack on Iran has nothing whatsoever to do with the possibility that Iran is closing-in on having nuclear weapons. The attack has to do Netanyahu seeing to it he and his wife stay out of prison. Ongoing “wars” have been Netanyahu’s way of avoiding prison. This war against Iran is intended to drag-on for several years, or until Israel can create another war somewhere else. (Netanyahu did not know Iran is able to strike back so harshly.)

Donald Trump is being blackmailed into doing whatever Netanyahu and the lobby want him to do. Donald Trump would rather be known as a compulsive liar than to have certain of the despicable skeletons in his closet exposed.

But what do I know?

I think that Trump - a true capitalist so it is all about the money - was bought. Secondly, I too think he is blackmailed by Mossad through Epstein. I daren't think what they have on him.

As a narcissist, he surrounds himself with sycophants so, as nobody tells him the truth and he does NO research, he is absolutely ignorant as to geopolitics or even reality. I am praying this is NOW OVER for the safety of the world. I am surpriseded Scott did not mention that as he usually points out all the possible outcomes / dangers in attacking Iran.

I whole-heartedly agree with this - I too think Elon's verbal slip-up was based quite likely in truth, and this has given Israeli hawks something to pressure him with.

Trump painted himself into a corner with his "unconditional surrender" statement, so he squandered the cost of 6 GBU-57s on empty targets for a 'photo op' to make himself look tough while not ratcheting up Iran's incentive to attack US bases and close the straits. Pure, damage control for damage inflicted by his mouth. He is a deeply stupid man.

The Israeli strike disrupted negotiations. As there was no crisis, Bibi was trying to please SOMEBODY with the initial strike. Reciprocal damage to Tel Aviv predictable.

Now a US strike with no military value. Whom exactly was Trump attempting to please?

I can’t help but see the black hand of psychopath UK behind this, behind perpetuation of the Ukraine war, behind the pandemic response world-wide. The latter seems beyond dispute.

City of London thinks Iran’s oil belongs to them. They think the US belongs to them. EVERYTHING belongs to them. We are the serfs.

It’s as if the US strike was a peculiar “token” attack. Trump’s ego? Too superficial, an over-simplification … IMO, what do I know.

My guess: financial hegemony tied to UK and Israel. How is pressure applied? TBD.

Time for World Declaration of Independence from City of London.

Thank you Scott, this morning's news here in the UK was quite worrying, with Trump swaggering around like he'd done something special in his training potty. Thank you for giving us the real news about that attack, I was half expecting it to have been a tactical Nuke, and then Pakistan responding with the same. Still, there's the rest of the day to go, let's hope some sanity enters the mix, but I'm not holding my breath. This stuff is like my unstable Angina, nearly every morning there is something to worry about, a bit of pain, then breathing exercises overcome it, but the threat of heart attack is always there. Let's hope the heart attack remains avoided, even if we have to struggle with short bursts of pain every day, some days there's none. This is what I am hoping for myself, and the World, that the relief from this near-constant suffering will abate, and give the World a chance to avoid it's own Heart Attack.

Just like everything else he does this sounds like it is all for show, to bolster his image and to manipulate the public perception. He is rapidly destroying the last vestiges of honor the US had abroad. Thank you for clarifying this for us!

Good question. The beef is that the man is a liar confirming that the U.S is not trustworthy and it’s reputation has been ruined all over and the real potus is not the one residing in the White House.Next elections the real President to be should be clearly put on the ballot.

Very well said. And now the Iranians can leisurely torment the Israelis, with devastating missile strikes, and keep the Americans on alert, not knowing if they will retaliate against American forces or not. How long will Israelis continue supporting BB after this colossal bag of hot air as missile after missile falls on their cities? How long can they endure not knowing when a siren will go off, or even if one will despite a missile launch? While there hasn't been a lot of lives lost, the property damage is immense, way beyond anything ever experienced before. And all to keep one man from facing justice...

I think it's the only way to end all the wars. Israel and Netanyahu along with the World system of control by, I don't know who, but obviously there is a plan to control the whole world. Trump might also avoid his own demise. It's an interesting double back switch which may just free the world to get us all to a better, non-deadly system. I'm in my mid 80's so don't have mush longer to go. I'm hoping I am right for the World's sake and my family's sake!

The US attacks on Iran look similar to the two staged missile attacks that Trump launched on Syria in his first term - the US warned the Russians who warned the Syrians who evacuated the target areas and no lives were lost, as far as I can remember, but it got the media and the neocons off Trump's back for a while......
